ams Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Hi All, Got a bit of an odd situation here. under my server cab has been 2 smartUPS's... Not been used for ages nor plugged in. Now, I know that they were working last time they were plugged in. I have plugged them both in and they are BOTH completely dead. Nothing at all.,.. I have ched the IEC leads and they are fine, I have even plugged a PC in to the UPS with the ups on the mains and again nothing. Ive followed the online instructions and nada. Anyone got any tips? Many Thanks JT @ Ashton Middle
crc-ict Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Possibly to do with deep discharge of the batteries while not in use?? Not sure, just an idea.
Dos_Box Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 What, there are no power lights/activity fom the chassis or that the batteries are dead?
SYNACK Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Maybe a complete discharge will help them, disconnect the power and replacable batteries then leave them for a couple of days for any and all residual current to drain out of the devices, you could also hold down the primary power buttons on them to trigger a discharge faster. Long shot but this may drain any tiny bit of current out of the power systems and allow them to reset once you plug the batteries back in and hook them back into the power.
ams Posted April 23, 2012 Author Posted April 23, 2012 Just had two of the three UPS's that I have apart, two "look ok" but the third had split batteries inside My plan I think is to buy a set of abtteries and test ONE ups out....! If this works then i'll buy another set and so on!!! The hutr is now on for batteries at a cost effective price!
