Firefox 12 released - Now with UAC-less updating!

Although not offically released for another two days, you can grab the final version of Firefox 12 from Mozilla's FTP servers using the links below. This is the first version of Firefox to feature the new Mozilla Maintenance Service which enables Firefox to update itself without displaying UAC prompts. Google Chrome-style background updates will be added to Firefox 14.

N.B. The version number "issue" has been beaten to death many many many many many many many times before. I think it is safe to say that this particular horse is well and truly dead. If it gets mentioned again I will have to call the RSPCA!
