Lexar 32GB Echo ZX Backup Drive £21.99 - Free Delivery

They look like a good solution for the Teachers who forget to regularly backup their laptop data (aka all teachers! :) ) and as they are so small they just stay connected in the USB port all the time.

I'd be interested to know people's thoughts on them or other solutions you are using to back up teachers laptops, which are mainly used for planning/reference/iplayer/browsing/facebook  at home?

Security issue? what if someone just yanks the usb drive?

Personally - I don't believe there's a technological solution to behavioral issues. show them what they *should* be doing, if they don't, they pay the consequences.

Data Security: If i use the Lexar Backup software it automatically encrypts the drives with 128-bit AES encryption.

Physical Security: Its much smaller than a standard pen drive, as can be seen below, even looks like a bluetooth dongle, so it would be hard to yank out. If it was stolen i'd be using the encryption to protect the data.

What about when the laptop is stolen/lost? If they assume there's backups...

Ahhh...that is a bit of a problem. Cloud backup solution then?

This is why we use syncronised folders, sure they have to bring them in but generally they only loose tree or so days of work as opposed to all of it.
