garethEds Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Evening awl, I've been catching up with MDT developments this evening as MDT2012 has been released. I've been reading Johan Arwidmark - I've not read it in ages but it always provides some interesting posts. Anyhow - for those that use HP machines (us), HP have released driver packs that can be integrated into MDT or SCCM. I'm not sure which model numbers they have in there but we purchase 7700, 7800 and 7900 from John Graham over at @ict-direct so hopefully they will be in there. Hopefully this news will be of use to some of you: Deployment Research > Blog - HP takes the next step and provides ready-made driver packages for MDT and SCCM Regards Gareth
jamesfed Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Just found out about that today myself - it was some HP 6465b's that I was preparing in MDT downloading the individual drivers off the HP site right until I reached the bottom of the page (where the pack was!). Haven't got the PCs on site yet but can't wait to see how well this pack works out for us.
PiqueABoo Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 (edited) I don't see many HPs, but Dell has done that for ages they have CABs for WinPE (NICS, mass storage) and lots with all the relevant drivers for specific models. Saves on download link clicking I suppose.. Edited April 18, 2012 by PiqueABoo 1
Soulfish Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Have to say that as PiqueABoo says Dell has provided SCCM/MDT driver packs for a long time. Their enterprise computing support site (where you can get the drivers) also has some very good guides on how to import the drivers, target them to specific models etc. Makes it a breeze to image Dell machines I've also found that Fujitsu also provided a SCCM driver cab download for their enterprise models.
gshaw Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Would be nice if Lenovo and Stone did this but small price to pay for not having to deal with Dell
Arthur Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Would be nice if Lenovo and Stone did this Lenovo do. It's called the ThinkVantage Update Retriever. There's a link to it in the MDT Resources thread. 1
gshaw Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 (edited) Learn something new every day, thanks for the link That's a rather awesome set of links you've compiled in the MDT sticky, good work! Edited April 19, 2012 by gshaw
