Internet Outage - status?

We had an Internet outage at work earlier today, and our provider told us there was a mass outage at one of the London Data Centre's. I have no reason to disbelieve them, but is there any way I, as an ordinary member of the public, can check network statuses of various data centres? I'm accessing the Internet from home via my own ISP (Sky/Easynet) now, but I understand the office is still affected; they have a commercial 100MB line through Griffin Internet as I understand. Just be interesting to actually see various ISP/backbone provider statuses on one page.

Perhaps try tracerouting to work and see where it falls short and then lookup where the last hop is?

Yeah, did do, and the last hop is "vl192.ar8.bllon.isp.sky.com [89.200.133.96]" before it times out, which doesn't tell me a lot, but was hoping for a geeky web page with lots of bars, graphs and dials on it!

No, not really. You can only use trace route, working in a Data Center myself for an ISP it's difficult to show the member of the public this kind of information.

 

The Geek in me tells me also to tell you that just by looking at "vl192.ar8.bllon.isp.sky.com [89.200.133.96]", I can tell you that is a Cisco Router and it's customer facing.
