It's the wife's Birthday soon and she needs a new car stereo. Problem is it needs to have both DAB and Bluetooth. I thought that by now you would be able to find this easily, but for some reason they do not make them with both DAB and Bluetooth, which is a bit odd if you ask me.

So I was wondering if anyone had found what I am after or could recommend one.

The only problem with the DAB is the fact you will have to mount a new aerial which is normally mounted the the window glass but check out Halfords offers. They will fit as well, which is normally included in the price.

Hope it helps.

You can get them with both, but you need to get the Bluetooth as an additional external module. You may need to change the car aerial to a DAB compatible aerial too. I guess the reason for the external Bluetooth module is there simply isn't enough room in a single DIN headunit for everything.

i doubt they will take off in cars (unless hm berks decide to kill analogue radio and pretty much give that to sky as well) as reception is much more patchy than analogue and while you can get awa with a weak analogue signal (if you can put up wth a bit of static) dab is much less tolerant transmitters are i believe weaker and tbh there isnt much on dab you cant get on fm (having said that i wish i could get absolute 80s in the car on fm)

i believe kenwood do do radis (or at least where both dab and bluetooth were bolt on modules but i think they were double din

on the off chance its a ford you have its possible to get factory radios that do dab and not impossible to retrofit bluetooth on some cars

Thanks for the info. She only wanted DAB for Radio 6. Think I will get her a standard radio with Bluetooth as DAB is not so good in a car. Bit of a Pioneer lover so will start looking. Thanks again.

I have a pure DAB Highway: PURE Highway, In-Car DAB Radio With FM Transmitter: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

Be warned though, the internal (windscreen mounted) ariels give lousy reception. It's better to spend an additional £20 for the external version (PURE HIGHWAY EXTERNAL AERIAL: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics) which gives flawless reception. I also have a Parrot kit in my car for Bluetooth. Doing it this way means I can take it with me if I sell the car :).

I had a Pioneer with DAB/CD Changer in my fiesta. I loved it. More picks over radio. Wish i could fit it all in my laguna. But single din headunit doesnt look right. Currently got a JVC with USB. Sounds ok. Dosnt have anything on the Pioneer which is 10 years old.
