The Lancashire Evening Post had this story today in the paper and on-line. You can view the on-line version for a while, here:

Looks like Fulwood High School and Tulketh High School are merging into a new academy. Also City of Preston High School is going to be an Academy, but there's not much detail about the other schools it'll be merged with.

A second academy, at City of Preston High School in Ribbleton, is also on the cards. A new academy, which will be made up of three existing schools, will be created in Lancaster by next September.

Lancaster is a bit of a long way from Ribbleton!

Yeah, and the Lancaster schools were on the BBC News website yesterday as I read them. Skirton High, Hornby High and Central Lancaster High - Central wasn't listed yesterday the items been updated today:

So wonder how that will affect Roger as IT manager at Central Lancaster (hes a forum member here, forgot his username, but he advertised a ob vacancy on here earlier in the year)

So... anyone able to offer any advice on what happens to the Network Managers whilst 'academising'?

TUPE regulations apply when a school is "transfered" to an Academy http://www.tssa.org.uk/article-46.php3?id_article=1382

A new roll will possibly be created something like ICT Systems Manager and both NM's will be invited to apply for the post, although in my experience this they usually offer this roll to someone with a commercial background.

So basically they're finished as ICT Managers .... That sucks...

Also grommit ict manger job does exist but as they would be merging two schools everyone (inc teaching staff have to reapply for jobs lea's been doing this for years as standard practice).

This is still rumbling on. The Lancs Evening Post has the story again

More than 200 concerned parents and teachers grilled politicians about plans to close three schools in Lancaster and replace them with an academy during a stormy two-hour meeting, which had been organised by the county council.

Looks like it's going to get messy.

I've got a similar problem in that they plan to merge Swinton High and Moorside High into 1 school with a roll of 1500 kids! (both schools have a roll of approx 1200)

That and the PFI mayhem, my future is in great doubt - TUPE regs or not - I'm starting to feel that "time to go" urge...

RE The Preston schools. It looks like they are trying to merge 2 successful schools with 2 failing ones again in the name of 'progress'. It never works.
