I have been asked as part of a bigger project to look at new and emerging technologies.

I thought we were using enough of them already we use

Xenserver as hypervisor

Xendesktop for 1/2 our machines running on wyse xenith thin clients

Xen app to sream applictaions to both xendesktop and laptops/desktops

Axel Thin clients for RDP to terminal server on 2008R2

We offer SSLVPN to staff and students for a xendesktop at home

We have Vle/intranet based on sharepoint

Exchange email system with room booking and equipment booking.

 

Struggling to thing of much else we would do at this time

we have a 10Mb Adsl line and a 6MB ADSl line and are limited in our upgrade options at present so cloud options are not really possible yet.

 

 

any ideas what SLT might thing are new and emerging technologies.

You sound like you are well ahead of most of us there already!

Wish we could persuade our powers that be that we should go to virtualisation but the costs scare them away.

Starting to be in the same position as you - getting Lync 2010 out there is chewing through some time though

 

VPNs FTW though! Has been the best deployment ever for our staff.
