Which Server 2008 R2 licence will enable KMS validation

Hi,

 

I'm still struggling with KMS validation, I have office2010 validating perfectly but I cannot get any win 7 machines to work.

I think this is down to the version of licence my server is running - MAK_B Channel key. Will this allow my server to validate win 7 or do I need to change the key to a KMS_B channel key?

If so how do I get one? do I have to purchase one or will microsoft provide one?

You need KMS for it to ditribute keys. If you have an MS agreement you just need your MVLS logon that your vendor should provide you.

I thought as much - I have given the problem to my EES vendor to sort out.

I'll be using my server to activate licenses soon, I'm hoping my action pack server key supports the feature.

Finally bounced enough Win7 machines off my KMS server for them to start activating and.... It all worked fine

 

Yep you need a KMS host key for the server. Just put it in and away you go. There are some good videos on MS's site about volume liceneing and activation, using slmgr.vbs and so on...
