vdi in a box alongside rdp

Is it possible to run vdi-in-a-box side by side with RDP.

 

i.e. if i had an RDP setup and was to install vdi-in-a-box on the same server, would i still be able to use standard RDP setup or would it be superseded and would I then be forced to just use vdi in box?

 

I am asking cause am considering using a product that has no support for vdi-in-a-box, and would like to know if it would become defunkt hardware if I was later to use vdi-in-a-box.

With Citrix VDI-in-a-box the usal idea is that the server is dedicated to running the VMs - however you could start up a RDS server as a seprate virtual machine on the same physical hardware if you wanted.

If you are using Hyper V as the Hypervisor for your VDI-In-A Box ...it works great for small numbers of machines. Again ...hardware dependant, based on what you are trying to accomplish.

I have it running in a test environment to compare MS RDS/VDI and Citrix VDI-I-a-Box.

We fired up a VDI in a box setup, and it works perfectly with the Axel M80, if you want a hand to configure yours to work in this environment please give me a call. (and yes - it can connect to RDP and VIAB at the same time

so user can hot key between the two environments - making migration simple)

 

This does provide an interesting alternative to other VIAB enabled thin clients, mainly Linux based terminals are priced about right, but don't have the full HDX stack, and Windows embedded devices do have full HDX but tend

to cost as much as a PC - so negate the main benefit of thin clients

 

The M80 supports HDX and costs less than most Linux based terminals - so hits the sweet spot in both cases.

 

It also has a 5 year warranty which no Chinese thin-clients can match !!!
