Auto Map shares

Hi,

 

'Stupid question for the week.'

 

 

I want to be able to auto connect to a couple of shares for my account only. There's a couple of network shares full of technical stuff, installs and the like.

What I have been doing for the moment is Go > Connect to Server

 

I have added them both as favourites, which makes things a little quicker, but I'm lazy and I'd rather the computer did it for me.

We map the rest of the drives for the other staff and students in a special mac way, but this if just for me.

 

 

(as you can probably tell, I'm more of a Windows user, but I'm trying).

Personally id map them the same way, but you can do it this way as well by going to system preferences > accounts > login items and adding those connected drives.

Do you mount using kerberos? if so then you can do as ste1988 mentioned above. If you're feeling really lazy once you have opened the login items you can just drag and drop the shares right into the window, OS X will do the rest for you. You can then specify to have the shares hidden for you on login to stop them taking over the desktop, however, i have found this to not work too well.

 

If you do use kerberos then the mounting will be seamless. If not then you will need to mount it manually initially (using the connect to server) and then tell it to remember the username and password. I think it may still ask you to click Ok though. You will have to see.

 

Have 10.5 and want to use Kerberos authentication using a local admin account?

 

Go to the Macintosh HD/System/Core Services/ and in here you will find the kerberos ticket.app. Using this you can add a username that can use kerberos authentication. You can also specify it to auto-renew. So now you have the benefits of a local account with the ease of kerberos authentication.

Knew it would be easy, I just couldn't see it, too busy looking for a login.bat file...
