HP CLJ 2605 Printer USB connected to Win7x64 PC - driver problems

Have several of these hateful printers connected via USB to W7x64 clients. While the preferred solution involves parking a skip under the open window I was hoping that someone had managed to get one working without getting the following error printed on a page after every print:

 

GET / DevMgmt/DiscoveryTree.xml HTTP/1.1

Host: 127.0.0.1:8080

 

Shared from a 2003 server they work okay, it just seems the 64bit drivers are non-existant, and the UPD doesn't work properly for it. Unfortunately, the ones causing the headache are non-network versions.

 

Any thoughts, advice and pointers gratefully recieved.
