Gatt Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 Ok looking for info on how to go about storing the connection to a SQL 2005 server in an XML file Idea: (in Pseudocode) if not exist xml_file prompt for sql server info (dbserver, username, password) else run app. At present my app has the sql info hard-coded into the app, but that is kinda limiting.

altecsole Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 What version of C#? 2005 has a Settings file that you can use for this kind of thing. Have a look at http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa730869(vs.80).aspx
vbsqluser Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 Hi, If You are developing a Windows application, use App.config file for storing connection string details. If web application, use Web.Config file. Books for programmers http://www.vkinfotek.com
