Sonic Shock Alarms

Hi just wondered if anyone has used them?

 

One of my primary schools has had about six projectors stolen recently, finding them online for about £70 each.

Or how do you secure your projectors?

Without going into too much detail, we have some anti-theft mechanisms such as using security screws to prevent opportunists, but our main focus has always been on building security first. Were the projectors stolen all in one go or in separate incidents?

 

That sais, I am also curious about the above device. I wonder if it's waterproof, i.e. could you squirt water into the speaker holes with a syringe and short it out?

Problem that I can see is that kids would enjoy cutting/unplugging them to annoy people...

We use ceiling mounted projector cages.

They took two a few weeks ago, and came back for more this week. They ripped them from the mounts.

 

Unfortunately it happened when a member of staff was still in the building so the building wasn't alarmed.

 

However I don't think the kids would set them off, there high up.

 

Good point about the water though, although I would hope the 115db noise would scare them off!

We used to have several of these on our floor standing projectors. As already suggested, students would regularly set them off, although I appreciate this is likely to be less common on ceiling mounts.

 

I think money would be better spent on clamps or secure cages.

Speak with your insurance company first, in my job i visit many such events (altho less of recent years) most insurance Co. now do not want cages and the current thefts from caged projectors they have just levred the whole lot out of the ceiling causing massive damage and leaving with the cage as well, one school here had a bill of £5000 for damage to the roof and ceiling they say let them have the projector less expence and secure the building as mentioned above.
