[sims] Database Deadlocks

I have a school who is getting about 3-12 database deadlocks within SIMS everyday. They seem to be appearing when Registers/Edit marks routines are bing used within SIMS.

 

I suspect that this is performance related so far I have tried:

 

Installing a Reindex Patch

Switching off homepage widgets

Archiving Attendance Marks

Shinking the LDF etc

 

I have a trace running and the school is still getting database deadlock error messages, Capita have the log files but I was wondering if anyone else has ever had a similar problem?

Ask whoever is in Edit Marks to not use it until all registers are done in the morning. That might help. There are some changes coming in this area which might also help this issue, as the Edited Marks are going to have precedence over teacher entered marks.

Deadlocks are also appearing when using different areas of SIMS.

Our attendance officer gets these approx once every week or two, but I've only ever seen it with her.

Look around at the other threads regarding performance as there are other things you can do to troubleshoot. You might find something on a search for deadlocks.

We use attendance a lot; I'll ask our SIMS team if they come across this error.

 

By the way, are the error messages from SIMS, or a .net exception?
