Mapping a wireless survey

I'd like to perform a wireless survey and map the output over a plan of the school. I think that this should be possible but I'm not exactly sure how.

 

I will be using Kismet on Debian and I will hook up a bluetooth GPS receiver - obviously, initially I will have to limit my trials to walking around outside the buildings to check the 'leakage'. I wil then be limited to where the GPS will work indoors (which is probably just by the windows.

 

Anyway... how do I then overlay this onto a drawing of the school? I have the pans in DWF format (which I can convert to an image format if necessary. I guess I then need to map reference points on this.

 

Any ideas or am I on to a loser with this?

You need two fixed points. Normally opposite corners of a large building will do. You also need to get the scale right.

@plexer: To a certain extent, yes - it is limited to automatic setup and gain control. However I want to create a picture showing the coverage.

You've probably found stuff like this already. VisiWave has a trial version not used it do not know if its fully functional but if I was doing a one off survey I would probably use a trial package. You can download and read about it here
