Restrict Gears Icon in IE9 via GPO

Dear all,

 

I am trying to remove the gears icon that appears in IE9 to stop our students accessing it via GPO. Is there anyway to do this? We had our GPOs running smoothly for IE8, but with IE9 the gears icon appears and gives some access.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The tools button?

 

 

If it's only accessable to certain users, you should have a look at their settings and see what is different.

I don't believe so, but you can hide/disable most of the options on that menu - such as Internet Options.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply. Yes it is the tools button. It was hidden in IE8 but since moving to IE9 it appears on the toolbar as a gear symbol and the existing GPOs don't seem to hide it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
