nettechth Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 We have a new computer ICT room of about 10 PC's, which currently have AB client installed and running on each machine. All machines are currently NOT on the domain. At first, I couldnt see any machines through AB Control, so i added an exception into Windows Firewall to include ABclient.exe. and after a reboot on all machines, they quite happily appeared in AB control. However, I have just started to notice that I can only see 2 or 3 machines at any given time, and the odd thing is, the machines vary between which ones are viewable in AB control E.G. PC 01, 02, 03 may appear and then a few hours later PC 07,08,09 migt appear. Has this got anything to do with the machines not being on the domain (DNS/DHCP issue?) or it there something I am totally missing here
JonThompson Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 From what I recall, AB uses DNS and DHCP to resolve the machines names. Do you use static IP's?
nettechth Posted February 22, 2012 Author Posted February 22, 2012 No we don't. IP's are supplied from the DHCP server. Its just strange that they 'sometimes' appear.
JonThompson Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Sounds familiar... I think we had something similar and it turned out that DHCP and DNS where not in synch - Have you contacted AB for advice?
nettechth Posted February 22, 2012 Author Posted February 22, 2012 Yes I have, they supplied me with a troubleshooting manual which hasn't been to any use so far. I will keep looking into this and post if I find a solution
nettechth Posted May 28, 2012 Author Posted May 28, 2012 Problem was solved my creating a new group and manually adding in the computer names into that group. Although they still look offline, when attempting to connect, they all seem fine.
