Hi there

A couple of questions regarding iPads.

We are looking at purchasing 6 iPads for use in school.

Do we just set up an iTunes account for school which we can use on all the iPads? I thought so but have been asked to check.

Also, can anyone suggest any useful apps for a primary school - what is anyone else using and what for?

Many thanks

what our school do is let users put their own accounts on the ipads (staff user them at home too) and if they need school apps we send them as a gift through itunes. Also if you go to ebuyer they are down to £319.99 from £399.99 like everywhere else. if were were just using them in school then we would set up one account for the school and then whenever we buy an app it goes to all the ipads automatically.

we have just ordered a 16 ipad 2 bundle from solutions-inc for a large amount of cash.

Apart from the 16 ipad 2s (16gb wifi), we will also get a mac mini server, macbook, storage/charging unit which is shock/fire/water proof, specialist installation and setup, 1 full days training, 3 year applecare on all hardware, apple pages, apple keynote, apple numbers, vga adaptor and £50 gift card

I was advised that any apps purchased (inc free ones) can be installed on upto 5 devices. then if more are required, you 'gift' another 5 'licences' to yourself till your capacity/requirements are met.

i assume that the server or the macbook will have itunes installed and then the ipads should sync over wifi.......

i hope that makes some sort of sense

Really bad time to be buying any iPad 2's

The ipad 3 is going to be released in about 2 weeks with the ipad 2 getting a price cut I would imagine.

I would love to get some more but been holding off for the apple press conference.

Purely coincidental apple have been pushing the ipad2 on TV again and have discounts already on many online stores.

Apple wont announce until a few weeks away, but its coming, hold on.

Well its nearly exactly a year on from the ipad 2 release.

And Apple has a press conference booked for March 7th.

And Ios 5.1 is to be released at around the same time.

And just about every part of the iPad3 has been leaked recently.

So I think its safe to assume it will announced then ;)

Cant wait, we've had great success with ours but I'm guessing the ipad 2 will get a price cut making things VERY INTERESTING.

Can I ask the obvious question....why are you looking to purchase something and then ask about useful apps? I know the whole picture has not been painted, but it seems odd that the decision is IPAD (the tool) looks like it has been made, but the use of the tool (software apps) may not be known.....

Are you saying you have outsourced IPAD support to the end-user?? I guess that solves the management side of things? What happens when it breaks, and the teacher says it is an invaluable tool for my class and I can't teach without it?......It seems like a lot of management overhead thats all...
