Rm cc3 and non rm servers

Hi all,

 

Really hope someone can help with this!

 

I have 3 server rm cc3 domain and new non rm servers.

 

All I want to do is map printers from non rm server to rm clients and move users home directories from rm server to non rm server.

 

As always rm say no but these are the most basic of things. Surly their is a way??

Home directories, I don't know due to the permissions and shares involved: at a guess though if you can recreate the shares and permissions (definitely possible; windows backup/restore) you can change the details in Management console easily enough (or indeed in AD)

 

Printers are also very possible although you won't be able to use RM printer credits. Just install them onto the non RM server and make sure they're listed in the directory. You may need to move the server in AD to the domain controller/servers container (can't remember what it's called, only did it yesterday!)

CC3 does not actually support user areas on non domain controllers, and even if you do manually create the shares etc, you won't be able to use the RMMC to manage the users.

 

You can map printers on the new server, but as mentioned above, you won't be able to use Printer Credits but that is the only thing.

I would put the server into the Server - No Inheritance node within the AD so that it does not get any RM specific settings applied to it. Certainly all our member servers were put in that node and I've had no issues with it since it was initially released.

Tried putting the server(s) into the no inheritance container and re-shared the printers. will test in the morning but i have been able to map them now thankfully from the RMMC. Cant wait to escape the RM system in the summer ! I'm a vanilla flavour guy.....
