Hi

I'm trying to setup a new user group in eportal to give a small number of teaching staff access to all assessments and registers but I'm finding the group and account hierarchy in eportal a bit confusing.

Could anyone explain how to do this, or failing that just give me a clear overview of how the actual users and the default users and user groups all fit together?

Thanks

Painfully.

But from what I remember there's some stuff in settings.xml (E:\Facility\eportal\Facility\ePortal\webapps\eportal\conf\settings.xml if you're a Birmingham school) that defines the different user types.

You can create a login-type here and then define the user-rights below to say if they can go into assessment, etc.

I never really had much luck with the settings in Controller, but tried not to play with it much as it often caused it to fall over playing with those settings.

I might have a nose around tomorrow if nobody else gives any thoughts by then.

Ok, thanks Chris.

Yes I'm aware of the settings.xml file, I'm still having trouble understanding how it all fits together. Why are there user groups but actual staff users seem to be setup as child objects to the deault eportal users, for instance?

Thanks

Hi

I can't promise I can help personally, I do have limited knowledge, but I know about ePortal and the groups you speak of. I'm happy to help, if you send me a PM with your details, so I can speak privately about this, with it being security related. That way I can check who you are, and discuss ways of changing this wihtout it being in such a public forum.
