mbrunt Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Hi all, Were about to deploy windows 7 to our imacs. During the deployment an unattend.xml file is used, this has 0809:00000809 en-GB en-GB en-GB en-GB this is fine and provides a uk keyboard, however as they are apple keyboards I need to provide a uk APPLE keyboard....so that the @ and " are in the correct places etc. Anyone done this before? Currently im just letting the image deploy and then manually changing the keyboard etc. Thanks
SC92 Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 How are you installing win7? Is it deployed via the network? This happened to me, and I didn't know what the problem was and was ready to give up but then decided to re-format one last time and realised that I had been selecting the US keyboard layout when first installing windows from disc, so I just re-created the image from scratch, selecting the UK keyboard layout, and it sorted itself out.

FN-GM Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Yep it changed the keyboard. When they first booted up it just changed the keyboard to the correct settings.

HodgeHi Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 If the configuration is the same as xp then you can specify the IME keyboard layout to apple Uk. The layout is installed as part of the bootcamp installation. In xp you can specify to use the Apple IME as the default for all users. Can you not do this in win7?

Apple keyboard does work, thats not the issue, its when i go to deploy it via deploystudio and then use the unattend.xml it sets back to normal uk keyboard rather than the apple. as far as i know i need to change the xml below to reflect the apple keyboard, but just dont know how to do that. 0809:00000809 en-GB en-GB en-GB en-GB
HodgeHi Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 In the control panel do you have a languages and keyboard option? In here it allows you to set the keyboard and the IME to be the Apple layout. Now there is also a tick box in one of the tabs that allows you to set this for all users. The setting is applied to the default user and is applied to all users logging in. I do this before I take a snapshot of the image. I haven't deployed win 7 so not sure if it is the same.
HodgeHi Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Maybe this would work... Go to the control panel and Click change keyboards or other input methods. Click on the administrative tab. Click Copy settings Tick the Welcome screen and system accounts option Tick the new users option. Test with a new user. It's a bit more fiddly with win 7 than win xp thats for sure
mbrunt Posted March 30, 2012 Author Posted March 30, 2012 cheers, i have done this already though, but in my sysprep i have a few lines in for inputlocal system locale ui language userlocale....they are all set to en-gb which is usually fine but on the macs seems to destory the keyboard back to standard keyboard rather than mac. im thinkin of just removing those lines altogehter but not sure...
