somebloke Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Hi guys, I've got a fault in a school that I've posted over on serverfault but not getting very far: Terminal server logs off users after 5 minutes - Server Fault Perhaps some of you have come across the problem already. The basics are that we have mixed 2003 and 2008 terminal servers. The 2003 servers are fine, but 2008 always kick off users after 5 minutes. We have removed mandatory profiles in case the v2 profiles were at the root of it, but also it gave quicker logons. I originally thought that this happened for staff only, but we've since found a domain admin with the same problem. Here is how the sessions look while a staff member is logging on: No "errors" as such, just information that the user is being logged off. No event log events created on the host at all. Anyone here had a similar problem? Thanks
plexer Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Is this after 5 minutes of inactivity or just after 5 minutes whatever they are doing? Ben
somebloke Posted February 3, 2012 Author Posted February 3, 2012 No matter what they are doing. Three minutes in they get a message that they will be logged off in 2 minutes time and there is nothing they can do about it.
glennda Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Open Remote desktop session host configuraator - select the connection - right click properties and under the Sessions tab ensure Active Session Limit is set to Never.
somebloke Posted February 3, 2012 Author Posted February 3, 2012 Hi Glennda - yup, set to never and a RSOP on the faulty user shows that those limits are not set for the user or the computer at the time.
somebloke Posted February 7, 2012 Author Posted February 7, 2012 Unfortunately this is looking like one of those "unfixable" problems. Time to start some rebuilds I think... Cheers.
