Carter Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 I've updated both our server and a client computer and though we can now see the client from the server with the new update the client still does not pull changes from the server. The OS X Lion 10.7.3 Client works fine with OS X Now Leopard Server but still not OS X Lion Server. Anyone else have luck?
HodgeHi Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 What do you mean by doesn't pull changes from the server? MCX preferences? or other changes? If MCX preferences, you could try running the mcxrefresh command for a user in terminal.
Carter Posted February 3, 2012 Author Posted February 3, 2012 When I create a group in WGM and make preference changes none of them get applied to the Lion Client. Once I add the Snow Leopard Server the preferences take effect right away. There still seems to be some communication issues with OS X Lion server 10.7.3 with clients that OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8 is successful
Tricky_Dicky Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Not sure about the Lion Server, but are you saying the Lion clients with 10.7.3 should work with a Snow Leopard server now? I've been waiting for this to move our clients over.
Carter Posted February 6, 2012 Author Posted February 6, 2012 Yes OS X Lion 10.7.3 works great with OS X Snow Leopard Server 10.6.8. This part is great for me as well but sucks that I still cannot get OS X 10.6.8 or 10.7.x clients to work at all with OS X Lion 10.7.3 Server at all. I can see the bound clients on the Lion server but it will not push out any settings to the clients. 1
mellowip1983 Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 are you using profile manager to push out settings or OD?
Carter Posted February 6, 2012 Author Posted February 6, 2012 I have not setup Profile Manager as I only want to use WGM. Does this need to be used? I really hope not. The server app in Lion is a pile of you know what!!!
mellowip1983 Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 We use WGM on a 10.7 server to manage both 10.6 and 10.7 clients without issue. Was only asking about profile manager as i can't get this to work with our iOS devices.
Carter Posted February 6, 2012 Author Posted February 6, 2012 Odd .... tink I'll re-install the OS on the server and try again. Just odd that I have no problems with OS X 10.6.8 at all but Lion nothing. I'll update after a fresh install of the OS.
Carter Posted February 9, 2012 Author Posted February 9, 2012 Still no luck. The server has a fresh install of OS X Lion 10.7.3 and with a client bound to LDAP with this server it does not receive any setting changes from WGM. If I re-point the server to our OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard server the client will work fine and get the settings. Not sure at all what's up with this. Will not work at all with OS X Lion 10.7.3 Server for WGM control? .
mellowip1983 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Hi Carter, In WGM is the group all the computers in the same name as that on the 10.6 server? maybe try creating a new group for the 10.7 server and apply the rules to that, see if they take, the other thing is the binding order, if i have OD before AD then the restrictions do not apply on my clients.
Carter Posted February 9, 2012 Author Posted February 9, 2012 ok NM I'm an idiot!!!!!!!!!!! I setup the new server with another fresh install and when I re-imaged the client with a fresh lab image to bind to the server I failed to update the client to 10.7.3 Call me ---> lol ...... it now works fine, just needed to do a fresh install of the server to get running properly.
