Would just like to tell everyone that I have tested a buffalo WLE-POE-S injecto r as working fine with HP 420 WAPS.

Any poe injector should work as long as they follow the standard of -ve on 7&8 and +ve on 4&5 but it was a bit nerve racking still plugging 48v into a presently working wap.

I found that the 3COM injectors are about the cheapest... they work fine with my BlueSocket APs so it will do for me. ;) As you say, the standard should be followed.

I also use the 3com injectors where necessary (for larger installations I intend to plump up the money for a Procurve 2650-PWR) - and they work fine with the 420's - you can't fault them at £11 each really!

I have a 26-pwr in one location and an 8 port on in another.

The other locations I need to have waps in are groups of 1 - 4 rooms fed from cabs and I in fact only need 3 additional poe injectors for the proposed installation so it's now worth putting in 2600-08's

Those HP Procurve 2600-8-PWRs are great IMHO... I have two of those and they work admirably - the 2650-PWR is overkill for me since I don't use VoIP and the APs are plugged in all over the show.

I'll be looking at a pair of 2650-PWR's for our soon to be refitted IT suites - they will have ChipPC in wall thin clients which get their power from PoE. Should be great. At the same time it looks like I'll be rolling out VOIP to the school to so will be getting a couple of 2626-PWR's too...

The great thing about PoE and the ChipPC is that they only use 5W of power each!

Well the quotes I'm getting for the basic models (which are fine for basic windows terminal services, but not for the more hungry citrix stuff - but better specced models are available for them) are around £200 per unit when I want to do a class of 30 of them.
