Vinced Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I've downloaded ESXi 5 and have been given a serial number on the VMWare website presumably for the free version. Whenever I launch the vSphere Client it tells me that it's an evaluation version and will expire in 60 days, is there any way for me to put the product key I've been given in permanently so I can just get on with the free version, I'm not interested in what the trial offers and I would like to just get started with the basics. From what I've read online you should be able to put the product key in by going to licenses on the home screen of the vSphere client but the only options I have available are Inventory, Roles & System logs.
pantscat Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Go into Inventory view and click on your ESXi host - then click the Configuration tab on the right-hand-side and then click "Licensed features" - you can enter your licence key here. Ant 1
Vinced Posted January 20, 2012 Author Posted January 20, 2012 Thanks, I actually went there before but I managed to overlook the edit link!
pantscat Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 It's easy to miss! Took me a while to spot it when I first installed 5.0.
