Guest Guest Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Anyone got any suggestions ref the wireless, only thing I can think of is to put the super hub into modem mode and get a seperate WAP box to deal with wireless whether it is zyxel or otherwise ? Yet do that (I assume you mean get a router, not a WAP). Something running DD-WRT/etc should do it.

I think it'll be kinda pointless at the moment, as hardly anything can utilise those sort of speeds. With 4 of us in my house, I've never had 'slowdowns' at my end, the limiting factor has always been the servers we're connecting to! Was thinking that, although I dont have trouble at home since we pestered them to giving us a new router. Once that turned up we have not been disconnected once, iPhone, PC and Laptop all wortk without a snag. *touch wood*.

If neighbours routers are or have there wi fi at max power which is drowning out my wireless 2. what channels they are using so I can decipher what the best channel would be 3. how have you configured your wireless on your superhub @mthomas08
featured_spectre Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Good idea is getting a channel scanner....WiFi on different channels won't cancel each other out, but if you are on the same channel its a nightmare.

There is a setting on the hub to Auto which is meant to scan for the best channel etc but with all the BT home hubs, Plus Net router and a few other wireless networks which I am forever picking up I need something. Channel scanner as in software I can install on a windows machine or as in a bit of hardware I have to purchase or what exactly ?

I can be sat right next to the super hub with my iphone or the HTC my better half has and it will keep giving me the error of unable to connect to SSID ( where SSID is the name of our wireless network which currently I have it set to iConnect ) Press on the wireless name and it just gives the same error repeatdly. Connect the next day or an hour later and it takes a minute or two to connect , stays connected for about 20 mins and then drops it again

Since you have a Mac running Lion, try the built-in Wi-Fi Diagnostics Utility first. http://i.imgur.com/jUT1e.jpg Other alternatives include KisMac, iStumbler, NetSpot and AirRadar. For Windows, there is inSSIDer. If you feel like spending money, you could get a Wi-Spy spectrum analyzer. The 802.11n versions range from $599-$999. Edited January 18, 2012 by Arthur 1

X-13 Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 I have heard of the wow patcher triggering this too. The WoW patcher can work P2P. [you can disable it.] Which is what they look for. Also, IIRC, online gaming and streaming videos also trigger it. They want you to buy the expensive internet... they don't want you to use it.
rich_tech Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 I am lucky too I think, wireless stuff works for me without any issue on my superhub, only problem I have had since I had it installed was that outage the other day, there is quite a few other wireless connections around me here but I don't get any problem, get more of a problem with phone signal. Its worth taking a look at websites like cableforum as well because theres plenty of stuff on there that can improve your service, like turning IP flood detection off on the hub. http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/12/33674833-superhub-settings-questions.html - thats one such thread
