karldenton Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Hi I have just purchased a QNAP TS 439 Pro II+. I have set it up as ISCSI and the server can see it fine in Disk Management. Copied a share to it, that works fine too. When I come to back it up I have got some external disk. If I go into the management of the QNAP, in the folder listing it doesn't show the data that is on the ISCSI. I'm assuming this has been formatting differently and it can only be seen from the server. In that case, do the external disks need to be plugged into the server to backup rather than the NAS. Obviously the backup will be quicker direct from the NAS. Karl
Achandler Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 i believe it is to do with the LUNS, two servers with iSCSI connectiosn to a SAN cannot see the same data and update it live, without a little bit of work. So I imagine this is the same sort of problem.
