OS X Server MySQL default installation

Hi,

 

A quick question,

 

Does anyone know if the default MySQL installation has already been secured, i.e. the root account and localhost account?

 

Is there any other areas that need to be secured on the OS X Server version of MySQL before puttijng it into production?

 

Trying to find any info is proving a little difiocult. All info pionts to the clients. I am setting up the web service for the Joomla install.

I do not know about the specifics of a OSX install of MySQL however I have found that most Linux distributions setup MySQL with a user called 'root' who can only access the database server via localhost but with a blank password.

 

If your unsure exactly how permissive your setup is, I recommend using phpmyadmin.

I have only just found this reply as i was about to post again. I forgot i had asked the question already

 

The default installation when you start the service in Server admin allows you to set the root password. It also allows you to either select allow network connections or not.

 

I assume that if you run Joomla and MySQL on the same machine that there is no reason to allow network connections.

 

When i install Joomla i also set it so that the user is localhost only as well. Is this correct or am i leaving my self wide open?
