Wireless Connectivity problems

I have got four Zyxel NWA 3166 access points setup in a building in four separate classrooms. The building itself is a roll-along building and therefore, by its very nature, only has very thin walls. From any point in the building, it is possible to get some sort of signal from all four access points.

 

I have set them up as a managed system, enabled load balancing set to a maximum of 10 stations and enable dynamic channel selection. The school has a suite of 30 laptops in the building and are having problems getting all of them to stay connected to the wireless at any one time. In fact, they can’t seem to get more than about 20 laptops connected at any one time.

 

Has anyone got experience of Zyxel managed wireless systems? We have used the NWA 3160 access points in this way before and never had a problem.

Hi, i have 10 zyxel 3166 with one as controller and im getting a similar problem.

 

When i get like 40 users connected to all access points im getting some troubles with internet connections.

 

Im thinking in change all to unmanaged solution.

 

Anyone know what is the limit of users by each zyxel AP?

I swapped this solution for Ruckus in the end after hvaing Zyxel coming out to site and still not being able to reoslve the matter. I highly recommend Ruckus kit every time as it is much superior to anything else! Its a little more expensive but well worth it in the long run!

I trialled a Zyxel AP before buying Ruckus. It's sat in my drawer somewhere, you can have it if its any use to you.
