nathan3388 Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 was just wondering if someone could tell me what the best software is to design a blueprint of your network. I have tried visio but was taking to long is there any quicker software to design it.
synaesthesia Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Few SNMP monitoring tools available that can map but the best ones will usually be those that come with your switches. Best one I've seen so far is D-View from D-link!
IrritableTech Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Some automated tools such as spiceworks and the dude will try, but I find them completely useless. I generally use Dia, which is similar to visio.
bossman Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Cisco network assistant, if you have Cisco switches and use the smart port facilities on the switches which are then automatically mapped by the software. Not the quickest but definitely useful.
Elison Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 I can recommend 10-Strike Network Diagram - Software for Creating Network Diagrams and Maps (Windows Software) it scans the network and automatically builds a graphical network diagram. you may export your map to Microsoft Visio for further work.
LukeC64 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Solarwinds does the same as well and its free Software for Creating Network Diagrams and Maps (Windows Software) it scans the network and automatically builds a graphical network diagram. you may export your map to Microsoft Visio for further work. I use it a lot, supports LLDP, CDP and SNMP.

After that though prices start at £1315!!
LukeC64 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Yeah I just checked sorry about about that haven't need to use it in while.
