afr00z Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Hi, I'm having a problem with connecting student computers to tutor console in netsupport. When I browse for students in tutor console, it just find some of them. I don't know why this happened and how can I connect all of my desired computers to tutor.
eejit Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 How are you browsing for the computers? Is it by browsing for part of the name i.e. ITRoom4-*? there are a few different ways to do this, so we'll need that info first.
afr00z Posted January 2, 2012 Author Posted January 2, 2012 I click on the browse button and it starts searching. In search resualt find just 2 pc. All of computers are join into a domain and I can ping them by name from the teacher computer.
FN-GM Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Are the student machines in the same vLan as the teacher machines?
afr00z Posted January 2, 2012 Author Posted January 2, 2012 Yes they are. They are all members of the same domain with the same IP range.
FN-GM Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Are the student machines have windows firewall enabled? What is are thy running?
afr00z Posted January 2, 2012 Author Posted January 2, 2012 They all have win xp sp3 with firewall disable. On some of them incuding the tutor computer kaspersky antivirus domain based is install, but I know it doesn't cause the problem because those 2 students that I can see have kav.
daveyboy Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Seen this along, long time ago, some thing to do with DNS / WINS....cant quite remember.....have all the machines the same settings? (i.e. same DNS server, same WINS server....?
afr00z Posted January 2, 2012 Author Posted January 2, 2012 Yes, all of these services are on a same dc . I can't figure which part is causing the problem. I'm under pressure of solving it.
netadmin Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Have you tried reinstalling the software on one of the student machines that is not connecting?
afr00z Posted January 3, 2012 Author Posted January 3, 2012 No I didn't have. I installed the program with all defualt options. Do you think it would helped?
rdhawkins Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 You might be better off contacting our tech support department NetSupport Software - Technical Support They can take you through a few simple steps to help diagnose the problem. Rob
eejit Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 In my experience this usually ends up being a DNS problem. Netsupport's tech department are great though - always know their stuff very well.
