Just been taking a peak at our RM hosted website bandwith usage (first time ever) and I was shocked to see that we are aparently chewing through 200-400TB (yes TB!) a month.

Our site (Welcome to the Frontpage) isn't overly image heavy (besides the gallerys) and the only downloads are PDFs (no videos ect) so I was wondering if this is the norm or if I should be calling RM and asking for some more detailed stats.

We had this in my previous school (granted not to that extent!) wow! 200-400tb!!

Apparently it was an IP address that KEPT on hitting our website and that caused the high usage! Worth giving them a call to see whats going on!

I've just put a stat counter tracker on our site and we don't seem to be getting that many page hits (about 66 over the past 30 minutes or so) all from what looks like genuine traffic so I think @glennda might be right about it being the server that the site is hosted on.

Time to get a hold of the bug bear that is RM! If in the new FY I can get our web hosting moved away from them we will only be left with one RM service :)

Do you use it as the homepage in school too?

I mean consider every student loading the page @ 1Mb * XXX Computers * X times a browser is opened per hour/day etc, That'll soon eat a chunk :( And as you said RM hosted I'm assuming there isn't an internal homepage (Which may be wrong I guess? :) )

Yep we've got an internal homepage but the school homepage loads in a second tab - looking at our TMG logs though we only send about 400mb of traffic to the site a week so it dosn't make up for the TBs word of data.

Nice thought all the same :)
