garethEds Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Evening Awl, I wonder if anyone knows how to make the 3d style adverts currently favoured by Sky Sports (and other Sky TV channels) where the main character in the advert looks raised off the background in a sort of 3d style - the background moves at a different speed. It's sort of the Ken Burns effect but on two seperate layers. I don't know what it's called to google. I have After Effects here for any tutorials but any advice would be amazing. Hopefully someone here will understand the type of adverts I mean. Cheers Gareth
garethEds Posted December 27, 2011 Author Posted December 27, 2011 Seems it's called the Son of Ken Burns effect. Gareth
dayzd Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I think this tutorial from Video Copilot should help you out. It only covers doing the effect with a static image though, so if you wanted to do it with motion, you may have to extrapolate and work some of it out yourself. I've not seen the Sky adverts you mention, but I'll guess that any action that is covered by the effect is in slow motion... On a side note, Video Copilot has loads of interesting and impressive tutorials for other effects if you're into making fancy things...!
