Unsolicited Parcel - Unit 4F Eurolink Industrial Centre

My freebie arrived this morning (21/2/13) with sender's full name and address on the envelope - Eurolink Industrial Centre, Sittingbourne, etc.

The gift was a very small USB designed for a laptop.

Could a mouse provide illicit entry to my computer? Will they be sending me a laptop to go with it?

Thats one hell of a business model.... "Here's some free stuff you didn't ask for... feel free to keep it we won't bother responding if you try to get in touch anyway"

Indeed. Club Tropicana (popularised by Wham!) had a similar business model, but they went under quite a while ago.

CORRECTED VERSION (sorry)

In theory the USB interface could be used to install 'driver' software containing a keylogger or similar. Unless you have a test environment with rigorous process auditing I'd probably not risk it tbh. Which is a shame as if it's genuine it's probably handy.

I haven't been able to establish conclusively what it's all about and letters and emails have gone unanswered but there are a number of businesses operating from that address / location and one of them sends out the 'free' gifts you sometimes get when taking out magazine subscriptions, mainly for the Dennis publishing titles.

I haven't subscribed to anything so I still don't know why I received the headphones. They're nice to use though with my iPad....

;)

@tech_guy Sorry to bump up such an old thread, but did anything come of your situation? Did the company get in touch with you demanding payment?

I've just received a package from the same address and Google brought me to this thread. I'd like to know what's about to happen :s

Thanks.

Hi,

I finally did manage to track down why I had received the headphones - We had subscribed to a Dennis Publishing magazine (a gift from my wife which I didn't know about at the time) and they were a free gift for doing so. The company at that address was contracted to mail out the items.
