RobFrain Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Hi We have 32 of the old style RM Mobile Ones that ran out of warranty in January 2011. We had a few problems with them a year ago where the actual socket in the laptop seemed to become and loose and the laptop wouldnt charge. RM admitted that it was their fault as they didnt supply us with L shaped chargers for use in a lapbank, and replaced all the boards for us. Two years and this month 7 others have got the exact same problem and I'm struggling to knwo what to do other than purchase replacement boards. Has anyone else had a similar problem?
difinity Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I've repaired/replaced a fair few DC power jacks on various laptops. Sometimes it's just one or more of the pins going through the board that have broken and are loose in the hole. Either replacing the socket or re soldering usually sures the problem. Might be worth stripping down a laptop to see if this is the case.
