Does anyone know how to get the keyboard off an acer travelmate 5742? (Acer ACER TRAVELMATE TM5742 15.6 INCH CORE i3 370 2GB 250GB (LX.TZ903.074) - dabs.com)

I can't see any other way than taking the entire top cover (touch pad and all) off as it's all one piece... I've now removed all the screws from the back but there's one bit of the damn'd thing that still won't shift (the bit above the VGA and LAN connectors)!

I think I may have missed something...

Doesn't the keyboard pop put after undoing a crew or two from the bottom ?

There look to be tabs on the new keyboard at the bottom, so perhaps some sort of clip above the keyboard on the laptop that needs to be pushed out of the way.

Yup, you'd think so wouldn't you? but seriously, it looks like it's all one piece - I can't see any gaps anywhere!

did my acer aspire 5738z awhile ago. Think there screws that hold the pannel in. (may be the cover to the ram/hd iicr) Then the keyboard should slide out.

Dont quote me to this..

Done it!

Number of screws that actually needed removing : 0

Number of screws that I removed: 21

It's a case of "StickYourPenknifeBetweenTheKeyboardAndTheCaseTwistAndHope"!

The keyboard just snaps in to the "tray" in the moulded top of the case:rolleyes:

Thanks all
