andyturpie Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Morning peeps, Just wondering if anyone knows of a freeware program that will tackle SCSI RAID arrays with disk wiping. I have 7 legacy servers which need to be disposed of, but I would rather I knew the disks had at least one good wipe before getting out a pro company to dispose. I know that DBAN cannot do it, but any others?
jamesfed Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Boot and Nuke works well enough for me - Darik's Boot And Nuke | Hard Drive Disk Wipe and Data Clearing Haven't found an array that it couldn't bust yet 1
andyturpie Posted December 5, 2011 Author Posted December 5, 2011 Cheers James for confirming, I may have been looking at old pages regarding DBAN and old comments. Will download the latest and start-a-wiping!
jamesfed Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 In worst case you could always break your RAID array - install Windows on one of the disks and then use Eraser to obliterate the others. Then install Windows on one of the disks you just wiped and again use eraser to destroy the data on the first disk (if that makes sense ). 1
andyturpie Posted December 5, 2011 Author Posted December 5, 2011 I will see how I get on with DBAN - hopefully it will produce the results I need. One of them is the old MIS server, so I do not wish to take chances! Thanks again!
