karldenton Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Hi, We currently have 1 server 2003 as the DC. Thinking of buying a 2nd server running 2008. With regards to the licensing, do I need CAL's as well for my 80 pc's on the network as they already have CAL's with the 2003. I want to do it "per server" ideally. Thanks
accura2000 Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 If you have the EES licensing, then when you add the server addons, it covers CALS as well.....
Millgate Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Hi there, You would need 2008 server CAL’s to access a 2008 server Thanks
elsiegee40 Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 If you are a small school (and with just 1 server, you probably are) EES may work out expensive. It was for us when we did exactly what you are doing. You are better off on School's agreement. Every member of staff with a login who works 200 hours or more per year (around 5.5 hours per week term time only) counts as a full time employee for EES. Often in small schools, you have many part-timers and TAs and it just doesn't add up.
karldenton Posted November 29, 2011 Author Posted November 29, 2011 Thanks everyone. The next question is what is an estimate cost for Server 2008 R2 media, server license and 80 CAL's
Millgate Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Hi, The media is downloadable now to make it easier and i'll PM you some pricing now Cheers
