TronXP Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 On the dashboard I have in the last few days seen a message around 8-9 am in the morning that Hard drive 1 has been removed then reinstated, there is about a 10 second time difference. Has anyone come across this before? Is it a sign of hard disk failure? Thanks
Duke Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 My best guess would be that it's a dodgy connection between the disk and the backplane rather than a drive failure. Normally I'd remove the disk, wait 30 seconds, then re-insert and make sure it's really well pushed in before you swing the arm shut. Just a guess though! 1
john Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 I've had similar issues in the past with my units saying RAM, Fans and I/O parts have been removed and re-inserted, if you look in the alerts I found it had been doing it for hours. In the end Oracle sent out an engineer to check the unit over and update all the firmwares on the appliance (This was after a fight as there response was oh its working now so it will be fine which is highly unacceptable to say there was 0 chance of anyone playing with the parts at 2am and it showing items such as RAM and Fans removed which the system will not like being removed whilst working!!) 1
kmount Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Known issue in older firmware about spurious insert/remove events. Check your versions and if current raise an SR.
TronXP Posted November 24, 2011 Author Posted November 24, 2011 Hard Disk 1 finally failed today, Oracle are sending out a replacment drive.
