Once I have created a specific folder and changed the permissions are these permissions overriden by any other permission levels

as per the norm permissions are inherited from the parent so what ever you set at the top (root) site theat is what will filter down.

You can disconnect and use your own but then this makes management alot harder.

Hi, I'm Trottoir's colleague.

To be more specific, we have a problem with a student who cannot upload anything to a folder created just for him. We have tried to create unique permissions so parent settings would no longer affect this folder (disconnect inherited permissions) but he still gets Error: Access Denied.

He is able to see "upload" and "actions" buttons though.

I am able to upload files as the Administrator with full access...

ok have you cheack the share permission as this will override the security permission sort of ie it wont let you in so security wont make a diffrance he will need full control and then set securaty to control what he can do. if he has read only in share he wont be able to save and it will give him the same error as above. sorry if this is basic but it is one of the things i always miss and for some reason my share permissions seem to now default to admin read
