Remote Imaging with different hardware

Hiya guys!

 

Its just a quick question really, as ive got no experience of this maybe someone can help...

 

Can you do imaging with multiple computers with different hardware?

 

Say...400 computers all with different motherboards etc, or a simple/quick way to format? (preferably remotely)

 

Not exactly sure if this can be done?

You just need to make sure your initial machine image has a suitable HAL.

You'll probably have to do the driver install with sysprep.ini in a similar way way as to unattended setup.

I just use the standard RIS image (made from the CD) for my installs - then it works on all machines.

It's easier that way, as all the software is in MSIs so it gets installed on first boot. I can usually have a machine pretty much operational in 30-40 minutes with software etc.

I also have quite a few of the drivers as MSI packages as at the time I couldn't get my head around integrating them when I needed to get the dead machine up ASAP.
