Advice needed!

I am currently working on a job that has roadside equipment sending in data to an office-based instation server via a private APN. This is currently working fine and data is being received. However, for maintenance reasons its is necessary to connect from the instation server back out to the roadside equipment's web GUI. Currently this isn't working! I think this is because they are on different IP ranges.

The setup is:

Roadside equipment: 192.168.6.38

192.168.7.119

Instation server: 192.168.4.35

255.255.255.0 mask

192.168.4.250 gateway

instation router: 192.168.4.250

I've tried messing about with adding routes and changing the mask address but so far have had no luck.

Any ideas/advice would be very much appreciated!

You need something to be routing between the different ranges. As it stands, your instation server can only see from 192.168.4.1 - 192.168.4.255 basically.

Your router would need to route all requests for 192.168.6.* and 192.168.6.* out of your instation network to the APN. Otherwise, 192.168.* addresses are normally classed as non-routable addresses, so will be ignored AFAIK.

I know nothing about the APN - so it might be worth you sticking up a network diagram, showing how these things are connected together.

Yep, Localz is right you need to be routing between those networks, you need a router between the ranges that knows about where all those networks are.
