Internal document search engine

I am looking into providing a search engine for staff to use for searching the shared drives - in a similar idea to the google search appliance.

 

I have just had a look at 'regain' - http://regain.sourceforge.net. The index took about 30 minutes to build from scratch for 110,000 files which is pretty good (this included all the standard file types - office, pdf etc...).

 

The only problem is that the results in it come out showing the path as file://p:/ for a file on p:\. Clicking on this prompts the user to download it. I want the file to just open from their local P:/ drive.

 

Has anyone else got such a system in place?
