Hi guys,

Boss recently put more memory in the SQL server. Upped it from 8GB to 16GB. Since then it's been running incredibly slowly :(

Looking at performance and there is only 56MB memory free (1GB available though). SQL server is taking up over 15GB and other normal processes are taking up the rest.

I am assuming this isn't normal behaviour?!?!

If not best way to fix it as the boss is currently away.

Was the memory installed the same spec and timings or better? In servers you should stick to the same make of memory too.

Are you running the latest SQL updates? I'm guessing you're running SQL 2008 R2?

Another thing to bear in mind - how big is the sql database? If you are going to try and restrict the RAM it uses try and make sure that the process has a similar amount of ram to db size.

This isn't always possible if its a huge db but if smaller then you should be ok
