viewsonic viewpad 7 & Android proxy settings

Weve just bought one of these. We want to test electronic registration on an android device but this version of android (2.2) doesnt allow me to change the proxy settings.

 

Has anyone managed to find a way to do this with this device?

 

I have tried a number of things already.

1. creating a shourtcut to proxy settings using anycut

2. downloaded this and this but neither seem to work

3. creating a APN to connect to the internet

4. downloaded different browsers to see if they have individual proxy settings. the only one that did was opera but it doesnt behave as I want it to when using the online SLG webparts in sharepoint.

 

 

has anyone got any suggestions or ways to force the device to use a proxy server? Im not going to root the device and install a custom rom so please dont suggets that.

 

We use a cachepilot as our proxy server and I believe that one way to solve this is to create some sort of transparent proxy. I dont know how to do this. Could anyone give instructions for a cachepilot?

Nooo! theres a new one coming out very soon viewsonic viewpad 7e! oh to get around this you want to look into transparent proxy

its only a test for us. We're more interested in the tablets usability as a device rather than what it can actually do. If it works successfully, we may look into other, better tablets.

 

Can anyone advise on setting up a transparent proxy in with a cachepilot?

I havent set up a transparent proxy myself, not had the time to, there are a few videos on youtube that shows you how to, I am unfamiliar with cachepilot, all a transparent proxy does its routes traffic through it so you dont have to setup a proxy for each device
