Hi All,

We have windows 7 and server 2008. The pc's all had java installed on the image.

Now when teachers log on it is asking them to update java, but it needs the admin username and password which is a pain, if i put it in manually and then click install it comes up with a unable to download fiiles error.

Is there a way of automating this so that the admin username is not needed and so that it actually works.

TIA

I guess your proxy setup is stopping the updates from downloading but you cannot remove the need to enter admin details on non-admin accounts. Group policy deployment is your best bet to avoid all these problems. I also use a group policy registry preference to remove the auto update scheduler from starting (also saves ~2mb of ram).

Delete this key:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\SunJavaUpdateSched
