Someone at a company that I support has asked if I know where they can get a reconditioned Mac (either desktop or laptop) for personal use at home. She does a fair amount of design work and would prefer a Mac rather than a Windows or Linux-based system.

I know there are some companies here that can provide such kit for businesses, but what about for personal use? Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

I am not sure about reconditioned but I know Misco sell "open box" stuff, basically its been opened and sent back due to either being the wrong model/colour/whatever and its usually at something like 30% off the original price due to it being opened already.

Also check on the Apple store as they do a variety of refurb stuff.

+1. This is the best place to go. The refurbished Mac's that Apple sell are indistinguishable from brand new Mac's.

I bought my MacBook from the official Apple refurb store and the only thing that set it apart from a brand new one was the fact it wasn't in a shiny white box, it came in a brown one with Apple Refurb written on it. The battery had 0 cycles on it @ 100% health, the case had absolutely no scuffs or scratches etc.
