Delete partiions, create new one and then format whole HDD

Hi there,

today I have had a complete waste of a day.

 

I have had imaging issues and the only way I can get the process working is too boot to XP cd, delete all the partitions, create a new partition and then fully format this partition. After doing this my image of a 40gb partition will drop onto the machine without an issue. The machines have the RMRBOOT util installed and with this on a machine, the process falls apart.

 

I am using CloneZilla of which I have used loads of times before without issue and I have made the amendments so that the image file can be restored do different partitions but it just isn't working unless I for the delpart, create part and format tasks.

 

Is the a quicker way to do this without using the XP cd?

 

The whole disk has to be formatted to remove the RMRBOOT util for the image to work on a station.

Can you not copy the disk and stick it on a server drive for the machines to pull the ISO on a network boot?

Nothing is working unless I delete the RMRBOOT stuff of the machine(s) and this can only be done by a full HDD format as per RM instruction.

Thats not right, I am sure you can do it the way I suggested, the machine will pull the ISO and start the install thereby foregoing the need for the CD in the machine..

 

As for RM, I trust their advice as much as I trust a chocolate fireguard!

I originally took an image of the whole HDD (Inc the RM restore partitions etc) and when I restore this to another machine I get an error about HDD size mismatch ie the destination HDD must of equal or higher capacity than the image. They are the same HDDs, same part numbers etc etc but this just will not work.
