Dos_Box Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 And wow, it's slow. I suspect all those who registered for the beta have been hitting the site this evening.
mb2k01 Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Me too. Hearing all of your positive experiences so far, I'm going to wait until tomorrow!
Dos_Box Posted October 25, 2011 Author Posted October 25, 2011 It's sped up now. It was really bad earlier.
Arthur Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 It's like Facebook, but isn't Facebook. I reckon it will be about as popular as Google+
careyni Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Any chance you would be willing to share you invite code? I've still yet to see mine. Thanks And wow, it's slow. I suspect all those who registered for the beta have been hitting the site this evening.
featured_spectre Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 (edited) I dont think the invite codes are going to be given to people with 1 post. You would need to be a decent contributor or been signed up for a fair amount of time. Same applies spotify etc. *edit* that said my code apparently has been used already so can someone send me one? Let me know in a PM if you can do it and I will send rep and thanks Edited October 26, 2011 by featured_spectre
careyni Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Any Unthink user that already has a code can save their friend's time by letting them use their code in order to bypass the emailed invitation process.. Guess I should have posted on more threads and/or registered to edugeek sooner... then maybe, just maybe I could be up to pace just like you.. aerospacemango Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I got the code, and had some time on my hands..... Got logged in after about 20 mins, but thought that it was due to traffic that it was soooooooooo slow! Looks promising...but reserve judgement at the moment!
Dos_Box Posted October 26, 2011 Author Posted October 26, 2011 So far it seems to be a cross between Facebook/Google+ and Linkedin. There seems to be some subscription (paid for) services too although several options are still greyed out.
IrritableTech Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I'm in this morning. There are a few rough edges (well it is in beta). I like the thinking behind unthink, it has to be said. I've requested friendship with Stephen Fry on the basis that I have nobody else, and he'll feel sorry for me.
Dos_Box Posted October 26, 2011 Author Posted October 26, 2011 And I'm a little unnerved at the amount of information they actually have the options to fill out and collect. None of these are compulsary, so I'm not filling them in:
GREED Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 (edited) I'm reading the blurb and trying to understand the point behind the site, other than making loads of noise to make them seem attractive, particularly to anti-facebookers. Is this not just another social network? Something else we will be needing to interact with? I'm open minded still... Edit: http://www.readwriteweb.com/enterprise/2011/10/should-facebook-be-worried-abo.php Edited October 26, 2011 by GREED
Dos_Box Posted October 26, 2011 Author Posted October 26, 2011 It seems to be rolling up a lot of features from other social/professional networking sites as well as things like Twitter and the ability to import all of your Facebook stuff (although it has failed to do this for me so far). But it is something I feel we need to take a look at.
Dos_Box Posted October 26, 2011 Author Posted October 26, 2011 There is a good article about the how, why and what of unthink.com here: Anti-Facebook Social Network “Unthink” Launches To Public | TechCrunch 1
Dos_Box Posted October 26, 2011 Author Posted October 26, 2011 Basically, Unthink allows you to control your information. You can put on as much, or as little as you want and choose who, or what gets to see it. It'll be interesting to see how that all pans out. 1
Guest gosche15 Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 could someone kick me a invite please? I would also like an invite. Curious to try this out.
featured_spectre Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 For the new people asking for invites please refer to this post... http://www.edugeek.net/forums/general-chat/84732-invites-systems-spotify-google-unthink-et-al.html
Guest gosche15 Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 For the new people asking for invites please refer to this post... So basically if I go and post 100 posts I am entitled to an invite. Hmmm ok. Didn't know there were rules to ask for an invite on things such as this. What better way to test something new then to have as many people as willingly possible. So this annoys the hell out of you, when people ask for invites? Well people like you annoy the hell out of me that act so privileged and lecture people in a forum. Thanks for helping out.
